BLUE ROCK, Ohio – Many issues can affect the bottom line of local businesses that are vested in their community.

North Star Pizza in Gaysport, was forced to close because of multiple road construction projects that disrupted traffic flow into and out of their family owned and operated restaurant.

Family Member and Employee Jessica Tysinger described the impact that the 9-month business closure had on the community.

“They were upset when they heard about the initial closure,” Tysinger said. “They had full hopes of it reopening. You know this is the only place they’ve got between Duncan Falls and McConnelsville you know, to get food. And a lot of people drive State Route 60 back and forth for work and it was convenient and easy to get to. A nice large parking lot right off State Route 60 so.”

Tysinger added that the reduction in business combined with traffic safety issues led to the decision to temporarily close the business and allow the construction companies to use their parking lot to store their equipment.

Fellow Family Member and Employee Nikki Petti talked about some of the changes the business is making as they transition through the reopening process.

“We are only open Friday, Saturday and Sunday right now,” Petti said. “Our hours are 10:30 to 9:30 on Friday and Saturday, and 10:30 to 8 on Sunday, the winter hours. We have actually added online ordering to our menus, so that people can order online. We have taken a few things off of the menu currently so we’re just focusing on pizza, subs, Stromboli’s, breadsticks, wings, salads and stuff like that.”

Now that the road renovations are complete, the scenic restaurant on the river has been revamped to provide the same quality service with a freshly paved parking lot for added convenience.
