United Way’s Tax Season Results

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – April 15th marks the final day for Americans to file their 2023 taxes.

United Way of Muskingum, Perry and Morgan Counties Community Impact Coordinator Katie Grubbs discussed how this year’s free, tax preparation service went.

“At the end of the season, we served 377 local community members to help them get their refund at a full 100 percent, without any fees added on,” Grubbs said.

The agency annually assists single residents with an income under $39,000 dollars and couples with a joint income of under 50,000 with filing their taxes at no charge.

“Our average annual grossed income is like $19,000,” Grubbs said. “So that just shows you kind of the low income that we’re working with. And those are people that wouldn’t be able to file their taxes without this program. And we have brought over $400,000 dollars into the community through those returns, through federal and state tax files.”

Grubbs expressed gratitude to all of the donors and volunteers that made the 2024 tax program possible.
