CROOKSVILLE, OH- Perry County’s Full Scale Emergency Response Exercise in Crooksville today, showcased seamless coordination among first responders and community partners.

“Today was our Perry County Full Scale Exercise, every three years we have to do a full scale exercise, it goes by each year, next year will be a table top and then functional and then back to full scale, so today we did a hazmat scenario, we had a tanker truck that was leaking a certain chemical that they were not aware of until they got onto scene, we actually had our Perry County transit be gracious enough to give us one of their busses to be the other van that was involved in the accident, so this was just to be able to give the fire departments locally in our county and our EMS a chance to have training,” the Perry County Emergency Management Agency Director, Jessica Dodson-Pierce said.

The exercise underscored the importance of preparedness and collaboration in emergency response efforts.

“It was a good turnout, we had good volunteers, and everybody did a good part and it’s interesting we learned that 9-1-1 did a great job with their dispatching and they learned some things, so that’s why we do these exercises so if something happens then we learn from it so that hopefully in a real time thing nothing happens,” the Perry County Emergency Management Administrative Assistant, Karen Williams said.
