City of Zanesville Launches 2024 Paving Program

ZANESVILLE, OH – The City of Zanesville has kicked off its 2024 paving program.

The paving working began on May 7th and will be going through Friday, May 31st. Mayor of Zanesville, Don Mason, said these paving projects cost a total of $570,000.

“We are out to a construction cycle, we’re using $400,000 of Ohio Public Works Commission funds and $170,000 of City of Zanesville gas tax money,” Mayor Mason said. “That right now is paving major portions of our City. Those areas are going to be Eighth St., Harvey St., Lindbergh Ave., Spence St., Sylvania, Indiana, Forest, Taylor, Olive, Caleb, and McConnell.”

Mayor Mason says the City helped to cut the cost of these projects by purchasing a milling machine.

He says City crews will mill the streets down and they will purchase the asphalt they need from a local supplier.

Mason also said if residents see a pothole pop up on their street to report it and City crews will get to work on repairing it.

“The City can pretty quickly get on potholes, again, we have a hot mix box and we can actually take care of those ourselves,” Mason said. “But I just tell people, call into the City’s general number or, and what I really like, is people can go to our website and there’s an opportunity to send an email to the Service Director, and I get a copy of every email. So we can visualize what areas need to be paved.”
