MVL Prepares to Take on LCL

Muskingum Co- The MVL v. LCL All-Star Game kicks-off Friday at New Lexington High School with all the best local area talent taking the field.

West Muskingum Head Coach Nathan Brownrigg will lead the team. He’s been a part of 7 previous clashes between the two sides. With all the best local area talent flying around on one team it’s easy to see why the Muskingum Valley League is held in such high regard.

“I think the guys we got here you really showed that there are some really good football players when you see them pop on the field Friday night you’ll see a lot of speed,” said Brownrigg. “You’ll see a lot of physicality and athleticism. I think it’s very well representative with our league and football is about our league.”

“Everyone on the team is good. All the players. It’s just like the super stars all over the league and if I can play with these guys here, I feel like can play the next level so this game is big just big for me all around,” said All-Star Cameron Barnhouse.

“I always thought the MVL was tough and to come out here just to see guys make plays left and right and this practice just kind of evident to what like the MVL brings the table,” said All-Star Logan Niceswanger.

But for most of these players they see it as a dream come true to be selected as one of the best players in the local area..

“This game means a lot because I I’ve always wanted to play high school career,” said Barnhouse.

Niceswanger added, “I’m truly honored because not only am I representing Morgan coming out here playing with Cole again, I’m playing with the best talent in the MVL so I just just compete with these guys and winning with these guys. Hopefully, we win with these guys that’s really special.”

But even though this is all for fun the goal still remains the same. The MVL wants to come out on top and make it 2 consecutive wins over the LCL.

Niceswanger said, “We wanna win because like because unless you make it all the way to the state championship high school player the last game was the loss so being able to come back to this game and it’ll be my last high school game so I want to win I wanna go as a high school player.”

Barnhouse added, “Definitely win last game and just enjoy the moment with all these guys because they’re gonna be happy too and they want to win their last game of high school too so, that’s definitely the goal then I’ll look back on it as hey I won my last high school game and tell people about that. Yea”

The MVL holds a 22 to 19 edge over the LCL in the series as they look to add another win this Friday at Jim Rockwell Stadium. And if you can’t make it to the game you can also tune in on Z92 or whiznews.com
