A Working Replica from Aviation History Comes to Zanesville
Zanesville, OH- The Wright Flyer Three, as the name would suggest, is the third aircraft design built by the Wright Brothers in 1905 and a working replica has found a new home in Zanesville.
The airworthy replica was delivered to the future site of the non-profit called Cole’s Center Zanesville where people can learn about and interact with aviation history.
“I’ve made my life, well, over the last 20 years. Devoted my life to aviation history and taking that to new levels and to new areas in terms of exposing young people to engineering to the history of engineering, mechanics, design, industrial design, and encountering younger folks along the way through my galleries and through my studios and museums and such and newsletters and online presence to really be enthusiastic to see how excited people get about being around things like this,” said Ron Cole, the chairman of the board for Cole’s Center Zanesville and president of Coles Aircraft Aviation Art.
For Cole, this addition to the Zanesville community means more attention will be paid to the community.
“In terms of having something like this, it puts Zanesville on the map. Which it already is, we’re right off I-70. I mean millions of travelers travel right past, right through our downtown every single day back and forth and this is something that will bring them in off of I-70 into our downtown. Eat at our restaurants like the Exchange, go to our hotels, you know, frequent our other small businesses and I mean this is the kind of big exciting thing that a town like Zanesville could really use,” Cole said.
