Ohio Capital Budget Awards the Carr Center with a $200,000 Grant

ZANESVILLE, OH – The Carr Center in Zanesville is a non-profit organization that assists children with speech and language delays, seniors and their community caregivers to achieve his/her fullest educational and/or functional potential in order to achieve or maintain the highest quality of living and were just awarded a grant by the Ohio Capital Budget.

The Carr Center, located on Beverly Avenue, was awarded $200,000 which Executive Director Katie Graham says will go a long way to help continue their mission

“We are over the moon to receive this money. This money is going to facility upgrades. Our cake auction, all the money there goes right into all of our programs so we don’t really have a lot of extra cash to fix things up. So basically the Carr Centers getting major upgrades, getting a face lift. We’re getting new doors, new windows, new carpet, a wheel chair lift, a new parking lot, like just so many things that are going to help the Carr Center go into the next 50 years of service,” Graham said.

According to Graham, the support of people like Ohio State Senator Al Landis and State Representative Adam Holmes is what helped their application get through.

“We’re just super grateful to have the support that we have from our community and from our senators and representatives. They really believe in our mission and it just feels really great to feel supported and loved,” Graham said.
