Paul Lewellen

Paul Dwayne Lewellen, aged 77, a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend, passed away on June 28, 2024, in Zanesville, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, love, and an unwavering passion for life. Born in Zanesville, OH on November 14, 1946, to the late Robert and Cathryn Robbins Lewellen, Paul’s vibrant spirit and warm smile became his trademark throughout his memorable life.
Paul was the devoted husband of Bonnie May Tague Lewellen, his sweetheart for 56 years. Paul’s legacy continues through his cherished daughters, Becky L. (Steve) Howard and Marsha A. (Gene) Rexroad, his adored grandchildren, Britney L. (Zack) Tackett, Christian M. (Ashley) Howard, Halle N. Howard, Miranda A. Norris, Savannah D. Rexroad, and Nicholas S. Howard, and his treasured great-grandchildren, Leah K. Tackett and Paisley M. Tackett. He is also survived by his brothers, Robert “Bobby” (Nancy) Lewellen, Myron (Linda) Lewellen, and was preceded in death by his brothers, David and Terry Lewellen..
Paul’s work ethic and craftsmanship were evident in his long career as a carpenter with Zanesville City Schools, where he dedicated 33 years before his retirement. Paul’s skills and dedication to his trade were matched only by his commitment to his community, as demonstrated by his active involvement and held chair at the Mason Grotto.
He was an avid golfer, participating in numerous golf leagues in Zanesville. His love for sports extended to being a huge fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes. There wasn’t a day when he wasn’t wearing something representing the Buckeyes,
Paul also enjoyed fishing and joking around and giving people a hard time. His sense of humor was infectious for everyone he met.
Paul’s love for his 1985 Ford Ranger was more than a hobby; it was a source of pride. He meticulously maintained and showed his prized vehicle, earning numerous trophies and the admiration of fellow enthusiasts. He will be profoundly missed and his spirit will remain a guiding force in the lives of those he touched.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association, American Diabetes Association or American Respiratory Care Foundation in Paul’s memory.
In honor and celebrating Paul’s life, his family is asking everyone to wear your favorite OSU attire to the calling hours being held from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM on Tuesday July 2, 2024 at THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME, 1150 WEST MILITARY ROAD ZANESVILLE and also at the funeral services following on Wednesday July 3, 2024 at 11 AM in the Snouffer Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mark Combs officiating. Entombment will take place at the Zanesville Memorial Park.
