Two Muskingum County Residents Receive Scholarships
Two Muskingum County residents were presented with a scholarship at the Muskingum County Community Foundation Tuesday.
The Miss Olaf and Miss Olga Hanson Scholarship Selection Committee picked Kindra Knight and Sophie Didier as the winners of the award. We spoke to Didier, a junior at Ohio University who told us what it means to her to have received the award.
"Well I think considering what the scholarship stands for in terms of education, I’m really honored to have received it and it kind of motivates me to keep going and doing what I’m doing."
To apply for the scholarship, students must have completed their sophomore year and be either an education major or pursuing a degree in advanced education. Knight is currently attending Harvard graduate school of education and is pursuing a masters. She says she felt honored that her hometown supported her and told us about her future plans.
"There are several different options. Right now I’m most interested in early childhood education or designing interventions for very very early ages. Birth to 3 years old."
Scholarship recipients must have a 2.5 grade point average for their course work within the degree. They were also required to submit two letters of reference, a 250 word essay and grade records.
