Zanesville-Muskingum County Port Authority Holds Monthly Meeting

ZANESVILLE, OH – The Zanesville-Muskingum County Port Authority held its monthly meeting on August 21st, approving a bid for a significant road resurfacing project and providing updates on a major development.

Shelly and Sands were awarded a bid to resurface Alan Baker Drive, near East Pointe Business Park in Zanesville. The project, costing just over $100,000, is set to take place later this year.

“Those investments are important. With businesses that are already here, our main mission is to make sure that those businesses stay here. Providing them with necessary infrastructure for truck traffic and employee traffic is something that will stabilize their existence here in our community and keep up with what we as a community think of as a business park, or what a business park should look like,” Port Authority Executive Director Matt Abbott said.

The Port Authority is also closing in on plans for a 200,000-square-foot speculative building at the National Road Business Park. Construction is expected to start within the next 60 to 90 days.

“This is going to give us the ability to market a state-of-the-art facility that’s designed for light manufacturing in our community. It’s another way that we feel, in partnership with Marker Development, can really give us a leg up on the competition that exists out there, or for new businesses and industries that are looking to come in to the community,” Abbott said.

More details on these projects will follow as they progress. For more information, visit the Zanesville-Muskingum County Port Authority website.
