Drive-Thru Clinic Provides Flu Shots for Muskingum County Residents

ZANESVILLE, OH – Many Muskingum County residents rolled up their sleeves on October 8th for a free and convenient vaccine opportunity.

The Zanesville-Muskingum County Health Department held its annual drive-thru vaccination clinic at the fairgrounds, providing free COVID and flu shots. Cars lined up as health workers administered vaccines to keep the community healthy and protected as flu season approaches.

“The best way to stay healthy is to avoid infection. The best way to avoid infection is by getting vaccinated. They’re not perfect, but they go a long way towards preventing the illness. If you do happen to get sick, it makes the symptoms less severe. It’s very worthwhile,” ZMCHD Medical Director Dr. Jack Butterfield said.

The health department expected to administer over 500 shots during the drive-thru clinic. Health officials remind everyone of the importance of getting vaccinated especially during the flu season and were thrilled by the community’s response.

“This is very gratifying. What it tells me is that our community has taken to heart how important it is, not only to them but to their friends, neighbors, and family, to stay healthy by getting immunized. We’ve had a steady stream; it has not slowed up. It’s very encouraging to see so many people embracing this opportunity to get a vaccination,” Dr. Butterfield said.
