Education of Yesterday Celebrates 20 Years

DRESDEN, OH – An event in Dresden shows off how the world worked before technology.
Education of Yesterday is a 2 day event, now in it’s 20th year.
Kendra Hindel, the Event Coordinator, says there will be daily demonstrations with old farming and construction equipment to help educate the younger generation on how we got to where we are today.
“A demonstration of the old equipment and machinery out in the fields, working, to show everyone the differences of now to then.” Hindel said. “You’ve got field to table, but what a lot of people don’t realize is the process that it takes and how long it took back then to harvest the cornfield compared to now with the new age with all their computer systems and things.”
Hindel says there are plenty of things to see and do at this event.
She says there will be food, crafts, a kids area, and a live train you can catch a ride on.
Hindel says the main reason for hosting the event is to share this knowledge with as many people as she can.
“I realized the kids today, and there’s more kids all the time, but they just don’t realize.” Hindel said. “I could talk to a kid, that’s just into the computer, and I could ask him where his milk comes from and all he knows is his mom went to the store and he doesn’t know anymore than that. We gotta keep yesterday alive.”
The Education of Yesterday event takes place on October 19th & 20th at 3685 Cass Irish Ridge Rd.
It’s free and open to the public, but they are accepting donations.
