Ty Sichina

Jeffery “Ty” Sichina of Lore City, Ohio went home to play ball beyond the Pearly Gates on November 7, 2024 at Riverside Hospital in Columbus surrounded by his family.
He was born on March 15, 1959 to the late David “Dutch” Sichina and Joyce Ann (Selders) Sichina. He graduated in 1977 from Meadowbrook High School and then later attended Muskingum University where he earned his teaching degree.
Ty was first and foremost a man of God. His faith propelled him through life. He was a member of “church” in Cambridge, Ohio and devoted himself to church fellowship and activities. He spent many Saturdays organizing, cooking and spreading the Word at Men’s Breakfast.
His love of his Lord and Savior also shined through in his love of his family and friends. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. His family was his world. He never hesitated to help those in need and never met a stranger.
He retired from teaching at Rolling Hills in 2015 but he never retired from helping kids reach their full potential. He coached his entire adult life, spanning every age level and across several different sports. He spent countless hours not only on the field and court but coaching kids through life. He also enjoyed fishing, music and spending time in his garage.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Jake Haught; nephew, Shawn Abrams; niece, Amanda Sasser; and his beloved grandson who he is now holding, Rylan Kole Perez.
Ty is survived by his wife of 28 years, Joellen (Haught) Sichina; three daughters, Bethany (Joe Hanes) Sichina, Katie (Eric) Zimmer and Carole (Tylor) Sasser; two sons, Jason (Misty) Miles and Chris (Andrea) Miles; two brothers, Robin (Vicky) Sichina and David (Annette) Sichina; two sisters, Luann (Buck Herstine) Sichina and Becky (Tim) Sasser; six grandsons, Kade (Bonnie) Miles, Cohen, Greyson, and Weston Miles, Kolton Perez and Hunter Sasser; three granddaughters, Ashton Miles, Diem Bailey and Paisley Perez; and one great grandson, Beau Miles. He also leaves behind several very special nieces and nephews. He was a friend to all and a mentor to many.
Visitation will be held Monday (November 11, 2024) from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Meadowbrook High School Gymnasium (58615 Marietta Road, Byesville OH), where funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. with Rev. Eric Zimmer officiating. Black-Epperson Funeral Home, Byesville, is handling arrangements.
As an expression of sympathy, the family suggests memorial contributions be made in Ty’s name to the Meadowbrook Athletic Department, 58615 Marietta Road, Byesville OH 43723.
As Ty would say, “Peace, Joy, Love, and Happiness”.
