Sheridan Sends Four More Generals to College
THORNVILLE, OH
The national signing window local high school athletes committing their futures to college continues, as Sheridan High School sends four more student athletes off to college to continue their athletic careers.
Tate Ruthers will be running cross country and track and field at Ohio University, after his four-time All-Ohio career at Sheridan.
His fellow track mate Beckett Strong will be running down south at the University of North Florida, joining former General Jamisyn Stinson.
Dylan Fox will be taking her volleyball career to the next level when she heads three hours north to Painesville to play at Lake Erie College.
And Lily Schein will continue cheerleading nearby at Mount Vernon Nazarene University.
For all four athletes it’s a big jump to continue in college but the soon to be former Generals are happy with where they are set to call home.
“It puts a lot of stress and relief off your shoulders, and just knowing where you’re home for the next four years will be, and what teammates will be coming to family and everything” said Ruthers. “And knowing ‘OU’ is 45 minutes down the road from my house, it’s really nice to have my college choice off my shoulders.”
“I’ve been dreaming of going to college in Florida since I was really little” said Strong. “So then when I realized I had the ability to run track, I thought, why not go to Florida and run track where it’s warm?”
Fox added, “It was kind of one of the first places I visited and they were interested and I loved everybody I met there, and it’s a really small campus and it’s a Division II school, but the small campus I really loved, kind of like here. So it just felt like home.”
“Part of it was the religious aspect with the college. I like how small it is, and it’s only an hour away, so I’m not too far from my family” said Schein.
”It’s scary to think about it. But I’ve talked with a lot of the cheerleaders and they all seem really nice, and I think that they’ll help me through everything.”
These four athletes are the latest Generals to sign their national letters of intent after the trio of Cora Hall, Halle Warner, Coltyn Reedy committed their futures back in November of this year.
