Douglas Wayne Dorsey, 65, of Lancaster Ohio died on Friday, February 7, 2025 at the Pickering House, Fairhope Hospice in Lancaster, Ohio.

Born October 13, 1959 in Zanesville, Ohio to the late Wayne Allen and Mary Hensler Dorsey.

Doug was a high school football standout during his sophomore, junior, and senior years. Doug rushed for 1,000 yards each year and still holds the record for three consecutive years of 1,000 rushing yards. Doug was an avid golfer with a true love for the game. He enjoyed car racing, snow skiing, and water skiing. Doug found endless joy in the rhythm of the ocean waves. Whether building sandcastles with the grandchildren or simply watching the sunset from the shore, the beach was his sanctuary. Doug loved taking cruises and exploring different places. He cherished every moment with his grandchildren and loved being Papa. We will always carry your memory in our hearts. Doug was a member of Saint Bernard Catholic Church of Corning, Ohio and retired from the State of Ohio, Department of Corrections.

Survived by his wife of 23 years, Tynesia Chappell Dorsey; step daughter, Anntoinette Perry; 2 step grandchildren, Londyn and Savannah Brown; brother, William Dorsey and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents preceded in death by sister, Mary Sue Coakley and brothers, Robert and Thomas Dorsey.

Calling hours will be held from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 6:00pm to 8:00pm with Rosary at 8pm on Thursday, February 13, 2025 at the Roberts-Winegardner Funeral Home, 304 Mill Street, New Lexington, Ohio.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am on Friday, February 14, 2025 at Saint Bernard Catholic Church, Corning, Ohio

Burial will follow at New Lexington Cemetery, New Lexington Ohio.
