ZANESVILLE, OH –The Muskingum County commissioners issued a proclamation recognizing 4-H students on Thursday.

Ohio 4-H week runs from March 2nd through the 8th. The meeting provided an opportunity for local 4-H leaders to gather and share their accomplishments, experiences, and passion for their clubs with the commissioners. The 4-H program offers over 200 projects, along with multiple clubs and leadership roles, giving students a variety of ways to get involved.

“There are more than 200 projects that they can choose from,” Muskingum County 4-H educator Jamie McConnell said. “In addition to livestock projects, there’s creative arts, natural resources, science technology, engineering, math, nutrition and a lot of other areas as well.”

The diverse range of opportunities allows students to explore their interests and develop new skills in a hands-on, supportive environment.

“They join 4-H through a club, we have almost 50 clubs here in Muskingum County, they’re spread out all over the county. I always tell folks there’s probably a club that meets within 10 minutes of where you live,” McConnell said.

For those interested in enrolling, you can contact the OSU extension office for more information. But don’t wait too long—the enrollment deadline is April 1st.
