ZANESVILLE, Ohio – A Walk to End Alzheimer’s event happened at Ohio University Zanesville Friday morning.

More than 200 participants sported purple attire and walked around campus to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Association.

Development Director, Lori McCleese, said they saw an increase in participation this year.

“We have over 30 teams here today, and we have about 260 participants. We had 180 last year, so a lot of growth,” said McCleese.

The Alzheimer’s Association was formed in 1980 to advance research to end alzheimer’s and dementia. 600 communities nationwide hold walks to raise money.

“The money raised goes to do several things. We provide services to the individuals dealing with the disease in our communities. We support their families. We also are the largest contributor of research in the world,” said McCleese.

All teams walking this morning were from the Muskingam County area.
