The United Way releases August 2-1-1 call center report

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The United Way released its August report for their 2-1-1 call center.
The United Way offers a free and confidential service helping people across the country to find local resources they might need. They direct callers to local food pantries, health assistance services, and so much more.
Becky Clawson, the Community Impact Director, said this month we did see a 25 percent increase to our 2-1-1 system, which is located in Newark, Ohio.
“These are local people answering the phone 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and many of them live right here in our communities,†said Clawson.
The increase in calls this month has been mostly requests for safety net services. Families needing assistance with housing, utilities, rent assistance, food, and clothing needs are all services 2-1-1 can help with.
“If there’s ever a time when you want to make a donation, to United Way, you can do that through our website. That helps to provide services like those that we provide,†said Clawson.
This service is free and available 24/7. If your call does not go through, dial 1-800-544-1601. Check out their website: www.unitedwayofmpm.org
