Logan Dawson

Logan Allen Dawson, 78 of Cumberland, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Monday, June 2, 2025.
Logan was born January 4, 1947 to William and Bernice Dawson. On October 25, 1969, he married the love of his life, Vicki. Logan was a dedicated husband, father, and pap who will be deeply missed.
The world lost a survivor—from having Polio as a child, to fighting in the Vietnam war, to being struck by lightning, to raising four daughters.
Logan was a Vietnam veteran in the United States Army. He went on to retire as a welder from Central Ohio Coal.
He enjoyed spending time on his farm with his Belgian Draft Horses, Quarter Horses, as well as, numerous dogs throughout his life. Logan enjoyed spending time in the woods—whether it was logging with horses or hunting deer, grouse, raccoons, and mushrooms.
He liked to play cards, but loved to win. He enjoyed fishing, especially catfishing on Lake Erie with his kids and grandkids.
Logan is survived by his wife Vicki; children, Staci (Ed) Edwards, Natalie (Aaron) Schaad, Laura (Jerry) Blackwood, and Sarah Dawson (Roger Rummell); grandchildren Tori Edwards, Ethan Edwards, Isaac (Morgan) Edwards, Brady Schaad, and Jack Schaad; two bonus grandsons, Zach and Landen; great grandchild, Wade Edwards; pet dog and cat, Tracker and Lucy; many granddogs, but his favorite was Jenny; siblings, Cay Larrison and Clayton (Debbie) Dawson; sister-in-law, Sharon Dawson; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws; as well as, a host of friends he considered family.
In addition to his parents, Logan was preceded in death by his infant brother, David Dawson; his brother, Myron Dawson; his sister, Jackie Huhn; his brothers-in-law, Buddy Larrison and John Huhn; and his parents-in-law Bob and Eileen Huhn.
Special thanks to Genesis ICU, Doctor Hernandez, Doctor Greer, and his “Lady Doctor Friend” Megan Dudley for their wonderful care the past few years.
He will live on through the retellings of Logan Dawson stories—but maybe with some added embellishment because you should “never let the truth get in the way of a good story.”
A celebration of life will take place at Rix Mills Presbyterian Church, 2770 Rix Mills Rd., New Concord, Ohio, on Sunday, June 8, 2025.
