CROOKSVILLE, Ohio – The Hull Pottery Auction is an annual event that carries-on the ceramic legacy of the Crooksville-Roseville Community.

The auction took place Friday afternoon at Crooksville High School to raise funds for the Hull Pottery Association, a network of stoneware enthusiasts from all across the United States, who value the items created by the community’s workforce, decades ago.

“The auction is very specifically intended to auction off the previous year’s commemorative,” Hull Pottery Association Vice President Randy Butchart said. “So we will have those 11 uniquely glazed commemorative cat items. The regular commemorative is all the same. Every… if you buy a commemorative, it’s all the same but the auction items are uniquely glazed in some really cool, special glaze treatments.”

This year’s auction may be finished but the Hull Pottery Association show will continue Saturday from 10 ‘til 2 in the high school auditorium.

“We have a couple of special events,” Butchart said. “We have the mayor coming in. We have the… we have the last president of the Hull Pottery Association Harry Taylor coming in. We have the leadership from Burley Clay coming in. They’re going to raffle off a bird bath. And as a very special event, we invite previous Hull employees to come in and we have a luncheon with them. Which is also available to members.”

The auction event is part of the annual two-day show and three-day-long, communitywide festival that draws pottery aficionados from all over the country to the birthplace of the ceramic collectibles, in order to find the next unique antique to add to their collection.
