ZANESVILLE, OH – Spooky season is the perfect time to curl up with a good book, and the Muskingum County Library System has some fun challenges to make reading even sweeter.

The library is inviting book lovers to join two reading challenges through the Beanstack app. The Hallow-read challenge is open to all ages, while the Banned Books Reading Challenge is for ages 15 and up. By logging your reading on the app, you’ll be entered into drawings for prizes. Hallow-read winners will enjoy sweet treats, while Banned Books participants could win a free book.

“This month of October, we have Hallow-read, which is focusing on seasonal and spooky reads. We also have another one in honor of National Banned Books week, which is this week, we have a Banned Books challenge. That one’s a little bit different because there are a set of 25 books to choose from whereas the Hallow-read, you get to select your own titles for that.” MCLS Marketing Community Relations Director, Sean Fennell said.

The library also reminds you to visit their Colony Square mall location in the food court. It’s open Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with computers, books, movies, and so much more.

“You can come in here during those times and register for any of our challenges, get help with the Beanstack app, or take a look at the incredible collection that we have here of our physical materials. We have tons of Blu-rays, DVD’s, and a lot of materials.” Fennell said.
