Two Martin Luther King Junior Day Scholarship Recipients

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – 20 students from around the area will be  receiving scholarships at the Martin Luther King Junior Prayer Breakfast.
Two recipients from Zanesville High School, Zeeshan Lahuti and CÂ applied and won the book scholarships thanks to Andrea Poland who monitored, assisted, and encouraged them through the process. Lahuti and Willett both claimed that the application was difficult but Andrea Poland kept them on tract.
” I actually feel honored, I really didn’t think I was going to be picked out for a scholarship,” Lahuti said.
” Same here it’s the first scholarship I’ve gotten so far and it was just really exciting and different for me.” said Willett.
Lahuti and Willett have a few schools in mind for the coming year, but have not made a final decision. Lahuti said he wants to major in Business and Willett expressed she wanted to work in Medicine, so she’ll be majoring in Biology and Pre-Medical.
” I’m going to be in school for a very long time,” Willett said. “So just knowing that, that’s something that is covered is really helpful because I’m going to be going through a lot of expenses.”
” It just helps with the first year books, it really takes stress off the shoulders,” said Lahuti. “Which, I won’t have to worry about the first year books.”
The Ohio State Highway Patrol Lieutenant Matt Boyd, Zanesville Police Department Chief Tony Coury, South Zanesville Police Department Chief Eric Finley, and Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office Sheriff Matt Lutz will also represent the local law enforcement honored at the breakfast. The Martin Luther Martin Luther King Junior Prayer Breakfast is January 16th, at 9:00 A.M. located at the North Terrace Church of Christ.
