‘Strike Out Breast Cancer’ Returns to Zanesville for 11th Annual Event
Interviewed by WHIZ reporter Gabe Hutton

Today marked the 11th Annual “Strike Out Breast Cancer” in Zanesville, an event coordinated to give back to people dealing with breast cancer.
The event was held at the Sunrise Bowling Center, where organizers offered multiple ways to give back, including a silent auction, raffles, and, of course, signing up for the bowling tournament—a fun way to enjoy a day of bowling while supporting a great cause.
Tammy Ansberry-Hildenbrand, the event’s founder, explained the purpose behind the fundraiser:
“So, this was created around giving back locally to our local, cancer center. And it is for a number of things that someone might need in memory to help with prosthetics, bras, clothes, gas cards. They have an excellent mammogram, program that this also goes to. Yeah. So we just we wanted to support our local cancer patients,” said Ansberry-Hildenbrand.
The event was created to support people currently dealing with breast cancer, along with survivors and those who have sadly passed away—making sure everyone who has dealt with breast cancer or knows someone who did has a place to come together and show support.
Ansberry-Hildenbrand said the response to this year’s event was immediate and overwhelming:
“We advertised this January 5th and we sold out on the day. I like to say the out to the hour of when we put it out there. So we have a lot of hundreds over a hundred today. And, just everyone being here and supporting each other, whether it’s somebody going through their journey or maybe somebody, and it’s just a fun time and it’s just having fun celebrating life,” stated Ansberry-Hildenbrand.
