ZANESVILLE, OH – February 17th is Random Act of Kindness Day, and in Muskingum County, some familiar faces spent part of their day spreading a little extra kindness.

Local law enforcement officers stopped by Christ’s Table to roll up their sleeves and help serve lunch to guests. Staff say visits like this not only helps with providing meals but also helps brighten people’s day.

“It’s not so much of what it means to me, but what it means to the people that we serve. Sometimes, there’s a dark light behind those blue and red lights. We want to be able to show the people we serve that this community comes together for a good cause. The people who are out there to protect us and keep us safe, are also there to serve us. This just gives a lighter side as to who they are and what they do on their duties every day. They’re out here helping make people smile.” Christ’s Table Executive Director, Keely Warden said.

Officers say taking the time to connect with the community outside of emergency calls is just as important as the work they do on duty.

“It’s super impactful. It’s motivating, it’s inspiring, and it gives us a chance to meet people in a different light. We don’t always have that opportunity, but this shows a way to pay it forward and it’s another way for us to serve our local community.” Lt. Kristi Mistovich, Zanesville Post Commander said.

If you’d like to celebrate Random Act of Kindness Day, even a small gesture like helping a neighbor or sharing a smile can make a difference.
