ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Tax season is here and the United Way of Muskingum, Perry, and Morgan Counties can help you navigate the complicated and ever-changing process.

The United Way is offering a free tax clinic service to the residents of Muskingum, Perry and Morgan counies to those who have a total income of $50,000 or less. According to Katie Grubbs, the community impact manager for the United Way, the program is made possible through the dedication of their volunteers.

“Our volunteers that we have really makes this program possible. They come here and not only are they certified through IRS but they take time out of their day to come and do taxes, which is a lot of people’s least favorite thing during the year,” Grubbs said. “So we’re just so thankful for our volunteers and, you know, without them we would not be able to serve as many people as we can.”

Tax clinic sessions take place on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays in their Zanesville office at 153 North Fifth Street. The last day of free tax clinic sessions is April 4th and according to tax coordinator Melissa Lynn, appointments are filling up fast.

“So you’ll want to call as soon as you can to get that appointment, and like Katie said, they’ll go over all the guidelines and requirements and give you a lot of information to make sure that you jot down all the information that you’re provided,” Lynn said.

You can see if you qualify, schedule your appointment, and find out what to bring to your appointment by calling the United Way of Muskingum, Perry, and Morgan Counties at 211.
