Unique Items Found at Treasure Hunter’s Roadshow
The Treasure Hunter’s Roadshow at the Zanesville-Muskingum County Welcome Center is wrapping up and moving on to the next city, but they say they found some very interesting pieces here.
Chris Watkins is a manager with the Treasure Hunter’s Roadshow and says the show’s motto is "if it is old or it’s gold we want to see it". But one man brought in an item even Watkins didn’t know how much it was worth.
"A gentleman brought in, it was about a 5 lbs rock of opal and it is legit and I have no idea what it is worth, but it is an amazing piece. Small pieces of opal are worth $4,000 or $5,000 it could easily be worth $50,000 or $60,000," says Watkins.
Watkins says guitars and memorabilia items can bring in a pretty penny, but what is really selling right now is gold and silver.
"With gold and silver going up to all time highs, we had a $2,800 check just a few days ago, just for silver and had an $800 check about an hour ago just for some broken gold things," says Watkins.
Watkins says he believes more than 700 people have shown them items since the show opened Tuesday. This is the second time the Treasure Hunter’s Roadshow has made a stop in Zanesville and Watkins says with the great turnout out, they will probably come back again. If you don’t want to wait, the next show is at the Comfort Inn in Marietta beginning this Tuesday.
