Randy L. Wright, 72, of Byesville passed away at The Enclave of Cambridge on Thursday (June 4, 2026) surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with metastatic prostate cancer.

Randy was born in Cambridge on July 27, 1953 to Tom and Melba (Carpenter) Wright. He graduated from Meadowbrook High School in 1971 and went on to become a highly skilled, self-employed contractor for over forty years prior to his retirement. He had also worked at Meridian Plastics and Carter Lumber for several years.

Randy was a Guernsey County 4-H volunteer for twenty-four years, serving several terms as the vice president of the dairy goat committee. He was also part of the poultry committee and helped with many upgrades to the barns and pens over the years. In 2020, he and Twila were inducted into the 4-H Hall of Fame for their dedication to the youth of the community and their continued support of the program. He holds a very special place in everyone’s heart and was such a soft soul to get along with; he never met a stranger.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Carol Metheney; and his father-in-law, Jim Hayes.

Randy leaves behind his wife of thirty-eight wonderful years, Twila Wright; his three children: Cody (Emily) Wright of Newark, Kyle Wright of Byesville, and Kayla Wright of Byesville; his sister-in-law, Trina (Bruce) King; his siblings; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his dear friends: Tim Mourer, Ed Bay, and Jerry Thompson.

Visitation will be held Monday (June 8, 2026) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Black-Epperson Funeral Home, Byesville, where funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. with Evan. Mark Beros officiating.

Burial will be at Guernsey Memory Gardens, Cambridge.

The family would like to thank Hospice of Guernsey, the care team at The Enclave, the staff at Medical Associates of Cambridge, and all of his 4-H family and friends for the love and support over the years. All the calls, texts, and visits were much appreciated by both Randy and his family.
