Hully Pottery Show Returns for 33rd Year

CROOKSVILLE, OH – The Hull Pottery Show is returning to Crooksville for the 33rd consecutive year.
The Show will be this Friday, from 10 AM until 3PM, and Saturday, from 10AM until 2PM, in the Crooksville High School Cafeteria, with members of the Association getting in an hour earlier to view everything that will be on display.
Keith Knowles, the Treasurer of the Pottery Association, says there will be over 30 pottery vendors from across 10 different states and about 100 tables filled with pottery that was made here in the U.S.
“These are representative, Hull was in existence from 1905 to 1986, so they were producing for 81 years and they made a little bit of everything.” Knowles said. “In the 20’s, 30’s, and 40’s, this is what they called the Art Ware, the Art Ware lines. In the 60’s and 70’s, that kind of fell off, they started in what they called the Dinner Ware Lines, which is the grey, but then they were also into brown. This is a piece that was the Florists Line, they made a lot of stuff for Florists and stuff, so the Florists line was also in the 60’s and 70’s. Then this piece is probably a very rare, hard to find, and expensive piece, that is just a Dealer Advertising Sign.”
Randy Butchart, the Vice President of the Association, says it’s amazing to have people coming back year after year to help make the Hull Pottery Show the success that it is.
“Of course, we always want new people to come as well.” Butchart said. “But really, we try to preserve the heritage of the Pottery manufacturing in the area, part of the reason why we have the show in Crooksville, Ohio, that’s where the Hull Pottery was made. So it means a lot to all of us involved and it means a lot to the region.”
