Free Concert at Zane’s Landing Park

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Many summer Sunday evenings are filled with the sounds of live music coming from the banks of the Muskingum River.

The Schubach Big Band will once again be performing alongside three guest vocalists this Sunday at Zane’s Landing Park. The concert will feature a variety of familiar tunes that will begin at 7 p.m.

“We’ve been so happy over the years to be there because we can get up to 300 people on the knoll there. And people should bring a lawn chair or blanket to sit around and enjoy. The wildcard this year, I’ve looked at and the weather is 50/50 chance of rain on Sunday. So our alternative if it looks like rain, we will go to Central Presbyterian Church. That’s 40 North Sixth Street in Zanesville, across the street from Bryan’s Place,” Band Leader David Schubach said.

The appeal, beyond the riverfront setting, is the unexpected variety of music and the rich sounds that are displayed by the musicians and guest vocalists. In addition, the concert will honor the America 250 season with a few patriotic selections.  

“Well, we have everything from Neil Diamond’s America, to a very special version of the Star Spangled Banner, God Bless the USA, of course are the ones you might expect those. And we have some surprises. There’s a couple of original tunes of mine and we mix it up between the singers. So it really is a variety show,” Schubach said.

The free concerts showcase community appreciation through their sponsorship by the J.W. & M.H. Straker Foundation and the weather pending location offered by the Central Presbyterian Church.
