Solar Eclipse Preparation Presentation

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – A local club is teaching people how to prepare for the total solar eclipse that will occur.
The Zanesville Astronomy Club is holding this free presentation in Elson Hall at Ohio University Zanesville starting at 6:30 P.M. on August 17, 2017. Zanesville Astronomy Club’s Coordinator Chuck Bruckelmeyer said they’ll teach what causes solar eclipses, where to view it, and safety precautions.
“We’ll show people how to make screens to project the sun,” Bruckelmeyer said. “So that they can see what the eclipse looks like without eclipse glasses if you can’t get them. There are ways to see the eclipse without eclipse glasses.”
The Zanesville Astronomy Club will also have around 500 solar eclipse glasses to pass out. So people may experience the solar eclipse easily.
“It’s an experience that you will never forget if you see it at totality, there’s just nothing to describe it,” Bruckelmeyer said. “A partial eclipse is still pretty neat, you’re going to be able to see about an 85% coverage here in Zanesville.”
The solar eclipse will occur on August 21, 2017 around 1:30 P.M. For more information on the solar eclipse preparation presentation go the Irene Baron’s website.
