The 45th annual Genesis Pro-Am Golf Tournament helps to purchase a new MICU
ZANESVILLE, Ohio – An annual golf tournament fundraiser is helping improve medical emergency response in Muskingum, Perry, and Coshocton Counties.
The 45th annual Genesis Pro-Am Golf Tournament started Friday at the Zanesville Country Club. Proceeds from the tournament will help purchase a new mobile intensive care unit (MICU).
“The current unit is aging. The new unit has some additional features. What we’re seeing is more need to transport patients to Columbus or Cleveland that are critically injured or are in need of critical care. And geographically, we’re now serving Coshocton County, Perry County, as well as Muskingum County with our current mobile intensive care unit,” said Ron Davis, the committee chair for the tournament.
The weekend tournament will see more than 600 golfers hit the green with 34 professionals from 5 different states. The event also includes a Putt for Car Contest, a silent auction, raffle drawings, cocktail hours, and meals throughout the tournament. Davis says it takes a lot of work and a lot of support to make the weekend possible.
“Our committee works almost year-round to plan this event. We actually start meeting in March and then the three-day weekend, we will have over 100 locals volunteering from the community. We couldn’t pull this off without all of their help,” Davis said. “We’d like to thank all of our sponsors this year for all of their help and assistance. We couldn’t do this without them. ”
More than 200 local organizations and people sponsored the 45th annual Genesis Pro-Am Golf Tournament, according to the event’s booklet. This year’s tournament theme honors veterans, first responders, and remembrance of 9/11.
