The Red Kettle bells are starting to ring

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Zanesville Salvation Army is hosting a kick-off for the red kettle bells, which will start ringing on Monday November 13, 2017.

Director of the Salvation Army, George Bates said it will be a soft start with only going out to a few businesses. By November 22, 2017 the red kettle bells will be out in full ring accepting donations.

“It’s a big part of our fundraising without it we would have to start shutting down programs such as what I just talked about,” Bates said. “Maybe it would be the food pantry and we do over 4,000 meals a month in our food pantry and 4,000 meals a month in our soup kitchen.”

Bates acknowledged that ringing the red kettle bells is the biggest fundraiser throughout the year and on average they only have between 15 and 16 sites.

“We could probably have 20 sites, but we can’t find enough volunteers to fill them all,” Bates said. “So I’ll just take this opportunity too. If you’ve never rang the kettle bells, you need to give it a try. It’s awesome, it’s just an opportunity to know that you’re doing a good thing.”

The Salvation Army’s kicking off the fundraiser on November 11, 2017 from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. at their location on Putnam Avenue. They’ll offer tours of their facility and information about their organization.

“It seems every where I go people say ‘we didn’t know you did that.” Bates said. “So we want to use this as an opportunity to tell the community about our services and the kettle bells are about to begin.”
