Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church’s Annual Pork & Sauerkraut Supper is set for Nov. 5

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church is inviting the community to its annual Pork and Sauerkraut Supper in early November.
The church is located at 128 S. 7th Street in Zanesville and will host the supper with a preceding bake sale on Nov. 5. The menu includes pork steak, sauerkraut, mashed potatoes with gravy, green beans, dumplings, drinks and a slice of pie. The event is organized by the church’s Ladies Aid group and also includes a bake sale. A trademark of the bake sale is the traditional German style cookies called springerles.
“I enjoy working with the women in the church and just, you know, having the people come in and getting to say hi to people. You know, either members or people from the community that I maybe haven’t met before,” said Holly Fell, a member of the church. “And I’m actually going to be working the bake sale this year so I’ve done a couple of different things over the course of time. Last year I served. I was on the serving line which gets a little bit warm in back in the kitchen but this year I’ll be out at the bake sale table doing that. So, I’ll get to greet people that are coming to buy baked goods.
Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church is accepting donations of eggs, all purpose flour, and powdered sugar for the springerle baking party on Oct. 30. Springerles will be $10 a dozen at the Nov. 5 bake sale. The pork supper is $12 per adult and $6 per child with the option of dine in or carry out.
“The money is then donated, in many instances to local charities. And then just this last Sunday in our bulletin we received a list of 33 grants that had been made from money that was donated to the national level of our group and goes nationally and internationally. So our money just floats all around,” said Nancy Corbett, the chaplain for Ladies Aid.
Meal tickets should be purchased in advanced which you can do by calling the church at (740) 453-0744 or by reaching out to a church member you know. The Ladies Aid group would also like to assure everyone that there will be plenty of sauerkraut for this year’s supper.
