Pregnant Women Await Injectable Vaccine
Pregnant women in Muskingum County will have to wait a little bit longer before they can get vaccinated for the H1N1 virus.
Pregnant women can only receive the shot form of the vaccine because it contains a dead strain of the virus. Last Monday, Rambo Memorial Health held an H1N1 vaccination clinic for pregnant women, but they only had 200 doses available. The health department says they are hoping to receive more injectable vaccine soon.
"We are hoping that we will start getting the injectable vaccine this week, but people need to watch the news and check our website daily," says Gloria Kieffer the Director of Nursing.
The website is ZMCHD.org and can be accessed by the link above. There is a waiting list forming for pregnant women when the vaccine comes in. If you have any questions about H1N1 the Muskingum County Health Department urges you to call their hotline.
"We also have a hot line, it is 454-9741 extension 301. They will have to use the extension over the weekend and you can leave your name, phone number and your question and we are calling people back as soon as we get those," says Jennifer Hiestand, the Public Information Officer.
We at WHIZ will keep you up to date with any new H1N1 clinics being offered in our area.
