Church Feeds Community Thanksgiving Dinner

A local church is bringing Thanksgiving early to the community.

Sunday at Christ Table in Zanesville, the North Terrace Church of Christ served more than 400 people a free meal. The meal is open to anyone in the community.

"If they have seen a poster that says we are having Thanksgiving dinner today they are more than welcome to come," says Arv Palmer an Elder at North Terrace Church of Christ.

All a family needed to bring was their appetite. The church made 60 pies, 30 turkeys and 20 hams. Not to mention all the holiday fixings. The meal took three months to plan and organizers say it is well worth it.

"It is definitely a good feeling for us, but it is also good that we know that masses are being taken care of," tells Palmer.

Palmer says the North Terrace Church of Christ has held Thanksgiving meals, such as this one at the church in the past. But this year they moved to Christ Table downtown to make it easier for people to attend. Also, attendees could take as many meals as they wanted to go.
