Seniors Graduate from Computer Classes
94-year-old Maribelle Tague is a little more familiar with the computer after taking a five week course this spring on digital photography.
A Cyber-Senior Graduation was held this morning at Ohio University-Zanesville for Tague and 120 other students. All of whom were 60 years or older.
"You have to do something. You just can’t sit and be a vegetable. That’s all there is to it, " says Tague.
Tague admits that the course was difficult, but it wasn’t her first one.
OU-Z offers four computer-based classes every fall and spring.
"We teach them how to e-mail in our beginner class. In our advanced Internet and technology class, they learned how to attach photos so they can send pictures and receive pictures of family, " says Community Development Director, Yvonne Factor.
Factor says she hopes these classes can help those who are older stay in contact with their families by connecting them through this new form of technology.
