ZANESVILLE, Ohio- Homeowners in Muskingum County may have noticed a recent increase in the appraisal value of their property.

The new values are a result of a six year state-mandated reappraisal. Muskingum County had to revisit all of their sales and make adjustments on the values of the homes to slightly increase. Muskingum County Auditor, Debra Nye, says it’s important to have these revaluations.

“To equalize the values of all the homes throughout the county. So you have fluctuation every three years, you either have a revaluation or a triennial update,” Nye said.

A property owner will have the opportunity to discuss and adjust their values if they attend informal hearings. The next hearing will be October 19th from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Senior Center in Downtown Zanesville.

“They could bring in an appraisal of their home. We would like to see that anywhere from 12 to 18 months old, no later than that. So that way we can take that into consideration when we evaluate their property,” Nye added.

New property values are available for review on the Muskingum County Auditor’s website or you can call their office at 740-455-7109.
