ZPD Welcomes Two New Officers

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Zanesville Police Department added two new members to its force Monday.
ZPD swore in two new officers, Justin Landerman and Derek Bragg. Police Chief Tony Coury and Mayor Jeff Tilton recognized their advancement into the position. Justin Landerman previously worked as an officer at Genesis Hospital, and Derek Bragg with the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office. The officers went through a nine month process to obtain the role including a physical fitness test and a civil service written exam.
“Protect and serve, and be the best officers we can be.” said Landerman and Bragg.
“Just happy to get started, ready to get started. Excited for the new endeavor.” They added.
Chief Coury said ZPD has officially filled all their vacancies and their voids. He said Landerman and Bragg are great additions to the Department, and that Zanesville is at their maximum strength.
“We’re able to give full coverage. We’re able to have our cars filled, every car that we have will have an officer in it every night. All of our districts, we usually run about five districts throughout the city and we have a rover on the North and South ends, we’re going to have that man power now,” Chief Coury mentioned.
Landerman and Bragg will now be placed with a field trained officer for the next twelve weeks, and they hope to be patrolling the streets of Zanesville on their own by the beginning of the Summer.
