William E. Schneider (June 27, 1921 – April 6, 2015)

CINCINNATI — William E. Schneider, 93, of Cincinnati & formerly of Zanesville died April 6, 2015 at 12:20 a.m. in St Margaret Hall, Cincinnati. He was born in Zanesville June 27, 1921 to the late John B. and Mae Dobson Schneider.

He graduated from St. Thomas High School and attended Ohio University. He worked for the McGraw-Edison Company (previously Line Material Industries) in Zanesville as the Chief Draftsman for many years, and retired after 43 years of service. During World War II he was a member of the Army Counter Intelligence Corps (CIC) stationed in Germany. He was a member of VFW and was past president of Zanesville Toastmasters Club 257. Having grown up near the Muskingum River, he was an avid fisherman throughout most of his life. Following retirement, he enjoyed woodworking, fly-tying, gardening, and wintering in Florida.

Surviving are sons William R. Schneider (Marilyn Bradshaw) of Athens, and Thomas E. Schneider (Brenda Lloyd) of Columbus; daughters Susan (Michael) Mahaney of Helotes, Texas, and Beth (Tony) Brown of Cincinnati; daughter-in-law Barbara Schneider of Nashport; sister Marlene Woods of Franklin N.C.; grandchildren Meghan Mahaney currently in Doungducheon, South Korea, Trevor Mahaney of Denton, Texas, Amy (Jared) Lepi of Naperville, Illinios, Kathryn, Austin, Mackenzie, and Anthony Brown of Cincinnati; step grandchildren Gretel Lloyd-Tisdall, Jon Witzky, and Erin Witzky all of Columbus; great-grandchildren Dustin and Claire Lepi of Naperville.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Mary Eileen Queen Schneider, son Josef M. Schneider, grandson Andrew Schneider, brother Jack Schneider, and sister Dorothy Schneider.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 11, 2015 at the Bryan & Hardwick Funeral Home, 2318 Maple Ave. Funeral services will be held at 1 pm, April 11 at the funeral home with Fr. Stephen Dominic Hayes, O.P. officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Zanesville Memorial Park.
