Animal Shelter Society Shares Community Resources

ZANESVILLE, OH – It’s time again for our weekly check in with the Animal Shelter Society.
April Gibson, their Executive Director, wanted to let the community know that they will be closed to customer service on Saturday, because of the Veteran’s Day Parade.
She says some staff members will still be around the building during the parade to help care for the over 100 animals they currently have under their roof.
“This Saturday, you know, come downtown, say thanks to these folks, that’s where we’re going to be.” Gibson said. “And so we close our shelter for customer service, so that we can participate and show our thanks. Just keep in mind, when we say we’re closed it doesn’t mean we’re not there caring for those animals. We have over 100 animals in the building right now and there’s always at least 8 staff members there for 6 hours a day.”
The Shelter also has straw available for any out doors beds for your animals as well as food if you are in need.
Gibson says the straw is located in a little brown shed near the Shelter, if you are in need after hours, and to just stop in if you’re in need of food for your furry friends.
She also brought a special furry friend to remind everyone about the Leaves are Falling, Cats are Calling Adoption Special currently going on at the Shelter.
“We have a feline adoption special for November, we do one every month, so Leaves are Falling and Cats are Calling, not Freddy Sr. here.” Gibson said. “He’s one of our Feline Ambassadors that greet folks when they come in and so he’s doing his job, but I don’t want anyone to get confused, Freddy goes when I go and that’s going to be a very long time from now. So with this special, it’s 5 months and older is only $20 and anything under 5 months is $40, that includes their spay or neuter, vaccines up to the appropriate age, microchip, I mean, they’re ready to go.”
