Free community shred day
ZANESVILLE, Ohio- As you’re doing your spring cleaning this year you’ll want to be sure to safely dispose of your important documents.
This Saturday the Community Bank location downtown will be hosting its 4th annual Free Community Shred Day. The idea is to help fight identity theft and fraud by getting rid of sensitive information before it falls into the wrong hands. The event is open to the public and gives everyone a way to have all of their unneeded documents containing personal information shredded.
“We have an assembly line that goes around and you just pull up in your car and our community bank employees will reach out to you, go to your car. You pop your trunk,” said Cindy Jackson the Vice-President and Office Manager at Community Bank downtown. They take the stuff and dump it in the bins. We ask customers they can bring anywhere from up to 5 boxes like 100 pounds of their important documents they would like to shred.”
In addition to shredding unneeded, Muskingum Iron and Metal will be on hand for community members to recycle old electronics. People can recycle e-waste items such as fax machines and copiers.
“Computers, laptops, cell phones, those kind of items. No TV’s or monitors. Anything they bring to recycle you take off your own information, but they’ll also be here to help collect stuff also,” said Jackson.
Community Bank and its partner, All Shred, have recycled 24,833 pounds of documents in the last three years. The event will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the bank parking lot. The bank will remain open to customers during that time.
