Harold Bennett

Bennett Harold Duo Pic

Harold Thomas Bennett, 96, of Senecaville, passed away Wednesday (June 24, 2026) at OhioHealth Southeastern Med, Cambridge.

He was born February 3, 1930 in Wilkinsburg PA, son of the late George Bennett and Verna (Jacques) Bennett.

Harold was a 1948 graduate of Wilkinsburg High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the US Air Force, honorably serving his country from 1948 to 1955 and earning the rank of A/2C.

After his military service, he began working at North American Aircraft in Columbus. His work history also includes employment at Garvin’s Dairy in Mozart WV and Allied Chemical in Moundsville WV. Before his retirement at the age of 62, Harold was the maintenance man for the St. Paul Terrace in Elm Grove WV. After he retired, he moved to Senecaville where he lived the rest of his life.

Community was important to Harold. He became a member of the Senecaville Village Council for several years and was a faithful member of the Senecaville United Methodist Church. He was also involved with the Cambridge Airport for many years.

Harold’s accomplishments were many. He was an accordion player, an organ player, an alto singer, a snake and black widow capturer and conqueror, a cottage cheese maker, a fire swallower, a coin collector, a builder of two homes, a creative tinkerer, a master joke teller, a laundromat repairman, a plumber and electrician, a Cub Scout leader, a camper, a sailor of Seneca Lake, a hunter and gun collector, a friend to birds who have been known to perch on his hand, and a jokester with an ornery sense of humor. Most of all he was a man of faith, a wonderful husband, and a great example of what it means to be a beloved father, grandfather and great grandfather.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-two years, Helen L. (Magers) Bennett, who passed away September 1, 2015. Also deceased are his two brothers, George and Harold’s twin brother, Lester.

Harold is survived by his loving children: Gary Bennett (Pam Povolko), Scott Bennett (Dori DeCamillis), Donna Jean (Cork) Burdette, and Terri (Paul) Hnidka; his eight grandchildren: Matt (Zahava) Bennett, Cody (Alissa) Burdette, Ashley Burdette, Kala (David) Estes, Audrye (Paul) Bucklin, Annabelle DeCamillis, Diane, and Stephanie; and his eight great-grandchildren: Griffin, Jackson, Camille, Coralie, Ewin, Calan, Pearl, and Eleanor.

Visitation will be held Tuesday (June 30, 2026) from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Black-Epperson Funeral Home, Senecaville, where funeral services will follow at 3 p.m. with Pastor Karen Rawlins and Pastor Tom Gruver officiating. At the conclusion of the funeral service, full military honors will be accorded to him by the United States Air Force in conjunction with the Guernsey County Veterans Council.
