Local Teen Performers Brings the Hunchback of Notre Dame to Life
CAMBRIDGE, OH – A popular Victor Hugo novel is coming to life on the Prichard Laughlin Civic Center stage, thanks to a talented cast of local teen performers.
After months of rehearsals that began back in May, the curtain is almost ready to rise on The Hunchback of Notre Dame. The production features about 52 local teens who have spent the summer bringing the powerful story of courage, friendship, and belonging to life through music, acting, and unforgettable performances.
“We’re doing The Hunchback of Notre Dame, which is based on the Victor Hugo novel. It’s similar to the Disney movie and it uses a lot of the same music, but it follows the story of the novel more than it does the movie. The ending is a little bit sadder and a little bit different.” Director, Trinity Millikan said.
Opening night is set for Friday, July 31st, with the curtain rising at 7 p.m. Audiences can expect a heartfelt production filled with music, powerful storytelling, and the passion these young performers have poured into every rehearsal.
“The best part is getting teach them and to watch them grow, soar, and find themselves. It’s always been the most beautiful thing.” Assistant Director and Choreographer, Kaylee Smith said.
The Hunchback of Notre Dame will also be performed August 1st, 14th, and 15th at 7 p.m., with Sunday matinees on August 2nd and 16th at 3 p.m. Tickets are on sale now at the Prichard Laughlin Civic Center in Cambridge.
