Muskingum River Rescue

The kayaker pulled from the Muskingum River has died. The name of the victim has not been released yet.

The Falls Township Fire Department helped in the rescue of a subject that went over the dam at Ellis Lock.

The department said they were dispatched to the area just before 6p.m. on Sunday.

They reported the subject went over the dam in a personal watercraft and was in the water. They were able to remove the victim safely and quickly.

The victim was transported to Genesis Hospital. There’s no word on their condition at this time.

The fire department received assistance from the Dresden and Washington Township Fire Departments, The Ohio Department of Natural Resources and the Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office.

Falls Township also said several good Samaritan boaters assisted as well.
