Plenty of prizes and fun at the VFW Post 1058 this weekend
ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Zanesville VFW Post 1058 is hosting its 5th annual kids’ summer party and there’s still time to pre-register.
The event brings hundreds of people to the local VFW, located at 1318 Putnam Avenue, with games, bounce houses, snow cones, cotton candy, and more. There will also be prizes, big and small, up for grabs. The event is this Saturday and you want to make sure that you pre-register your family before the deadline.
“We’re making a few changes this year. All the children must be 12 years old or under and accompanied by an adult at all times. This is a pre-registration only. So we’ve got a website. I’m sure lots of you have gone to the website already,” said Linda Porter, president of the VFW Auxiliary No one will be able to register the day of the party. The registration ends July 24 at 8 p.m., which is the night before.”
Jack Lambert is the Quartermaster for the local VFW and thanked a full list of sponsors, including: VFW Ohio Charities, Laborers’ Local 530, J&S Maintenance, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Appalachia Ohio, DJ Kurtus, Wright Vibes Photo Booth, Seth Murphy, Conn’s Chips, Dollar General, Gordon’s Food Service, Forever Dads, Lancaster Bingo, and more.
Lambert says that it’s community support from those sponsors that makes the kids’ summer party possible and has allowed it to grow every year.
“It means a lot. We wasn’t really expecting, the first time we had this, to have so many people in our community come by. It was really overwhelming and it’s just built on every year. I mean, every year it gets bigger and bigger and bigger and bigger,” Lambert said. “And hard to tell, you know, what’s going to happen this year. We may end up with more people. You know, it’s just hard to tell, year-to-year, what to expect.”
