The Downtown Exchange has a new pizzeria

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Rustic Slice may have left the Downtown Exchange but a new business has turned the ovens back on.
Village Pizzeria & Kitchen opened it’s second location in the Downtown Exchange on Tuesday. Jalene Walton and Craig Hamilton opened the original location in Frazeysburg and after a successful first year, they had an opportunity to expand to a new market.
“It’s been great. We got an opportunity to that was too good to pass up for us and it’s been a little crazy but at the same time we’re super excited to out here and to be able to expand and reach a different part of our community,” Walton said. “We’ve had an excellent response to us. We obviously already have a pretty good following from our Frazeysburg location. So we’ve had some older customers come in and a lot of those newer customers as well.”
Village Pizzeria & Kitchen has nearly a dozen specialty pizzas on the menu. There’s also subs, salads, wings, and stromboli. According to Walton, the pizza oven used by the previous pizzeria made it easy to maintain their signature style pizza.
“The oven is actually the exact same as our location in Frazeysburg. We do stay with an old school oven. We do cook on a pizza stone versus a conveyor oven. So it’s all the same and that was nice for us to be able to walk into and know that we were going to be able to keep our original style pizza,” Walton said. “We hope that the community gives us a chance, comes down and tries us out.”
The original location can be found at 226 West 3rd Street in Frazeysburg while the new location can be found in the Downtown Exchange in Zanesville. The Downtown Exchange is located at 527 Main Street.
The Zanesville location is currently hiring with full time and part time opportunities. You can follow Village Pizzeria & Kitchen for more information.
