The Salvation Army Succeeds Red Kettle Goal
Some good news for The Salvation Army as they have passed their red kettle goal with one day to spare.
This year, The Salvation Army set a goal of $100,000 for their annual red kettle event, and as of yesterday, they raised well over that amount. Ministry Assistant of The Salvation Army, Dustin Redmond, says since they reached their goal, they’ve also received an additional donation from their headquarters.
"Our divisional headquarters in Cleveland agreed to match dollar for dollar anything over $80,000 that we made, so we actually ended up making $20,000 extra to go towards our debt.
Salvation Army employees and volunteers were able to celebrate this Christmas Eve, which would normally be their last day of the red kettle event.
"Today, we actually just celebrated. We usually go to the 24th of December with our kettles but we won’t have any kettles out today since we did make our goal. We appreciate what the community has done for us, so since the community helped us get our goal we decided to stop today. This year we decided that since our committed bell ringers were out everyday, whether it was cold or warm, we decided that today instead of having them go out, we would surprise them with a breakfast."
The Salvation Army would like to thank all of their volunteers, bell ringers, and the community groups that helped them throughout the entire holiday season.
