ZAAP’s Artist of the Month and their biggest fundraiser of the year

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Zanesville Appalachian Arts Project, or ZAAP, is highlighting the artwork of member Joan Quinn. You’ll be able to see her paintings on display during the First Friday Artwalk from 5-8 p.m. ZAAP Director Shelby Spilker shared what she appreciates most about the New Concord natives’ art.

“I like that there’s a mix. She’s got very bold painting style and then some of it’s, you know, nature-focused and some is very pop-arty. So I think it’s cool that she’s got a mix of her skills,” Spilker said.

While you appreciate Quinn’s work, you can also bid on art at their annual Foot x

Foot Auction, which helps fund the organization’s day-to-day operations. Around 60 pieces are going to be auctioned off this month. All of the pieces are painted on a 1 square foot canvas with bids starting at $25 each.

“So all month we will have our bid forms up and it’s a silent auction. On the 27th we have our closing event where we’ll have live music, refreshments, raffles, it’s going to be a whole celebration. And at 7:30 (p.m.), we do a final bid. Everybody rushes up to their painting, puts their final bids in, and then we close the auction,” Spilker said.

The ZAAP Gallery can be found at 625 Main Street. You can visit ZAAP on their website or visit their Facebook page for more information.
