LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP) — Chicago Bears quarterback Matt Blanchard had little chance to impress coaches last season or during an April minicamp, so he did what he could to make the most of his chance to throw at the team's rookie camp that ended Sunday.
That included wearing a camera on his helmet.
To get a better idea how Blanchard understands the offense, the Bears had him wear a unique helmet camera so they could see where he looks at the defense...

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. (AP) — Jeff Maggert will remember one thing about The Players Championship.
Not his water ball on the famed island 17th hole that led to double-bogey Sunday. Not his birdie on 18, just the fifth of the day at the ultra-challenging closing hole. Not even his runner-up finish, the 49-year-old Texan's best showing since winning the 2006 St. Jude Classic.
Five three-putts stood out more than everything else at TPC Sawgrass....

INGLEWOOD, Calif. (AP) — Defending champion Dhaamer won the $73,850 Round Table Handicap by 2 ¼ lengths at Betfair Hollywood Park on Sunday, keeping the 6-year-old gelding undefeated on the track's turf course.
Ridden by Garrett Gomez, Dhaamer ran 1 ½ miles in 2:26.96 and paid $3.20, $2.20 and $2.10 as the 3-5 favorite. Last year, Dhaamer won the race by 4 ¼ lengths. He's 3-0 on the turf course.
"That was pretty easy," Gomez said.

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — The Green Bay Packers' decision to shuffle their offensive line was based on the need to protect the team's most important asset in quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
After doing postseason evaluations of schemes and players and ranking each player on the roster, coach Mike McCarthy and his staff determined that Bryan Bulaga and Josh Sitton were the team's best offensive linemen.
McCarthy said their ranking led the coaches to having...

ESCONDIDO, Calif. (AP) — Lieuwe Westra of the Netherlands easily outsprinted Spanaird Francisco Mancebo to claim the sweltering and hilly stage 1 and assumed the overall race Sunday lead at the Amgen Tour of California.
Westra, an eight-year pro who claimed his 12th career win, completed the 102.6-mile Escondido road race in 4 hours, 31 minutes and 33 seconds as temperatures reached into the high 90s.
Mancebo finished second a few bikes lengths...

The New York Times is reporting that Derek Boogaard's family has filed a wrongful-death lawsuit against the National Hockey League.
In the lawsuit, the family says the NHL is responsible for the brain damage that Boogaard sustained during six seasons as an enforcer in the league, and for his addiction to prescription painkillers.
Boogaard was found dead of an accidental overdose of pain medication and alcohol on May 13, 2011. He was 28. He was...

RENTON, Wash. (AP) — The Seattle Seahawks already had a deep roster even before the NFL draft.
For the 11 draft picks selected by Seattle, just finding a way onto the roster by the end of training camp will be tough.
However, two of the Seahawks selections have already made an impression with coach Pete Carroll during the team's three-day rookie minicamp.
Fourth-round receiver Chris Harper and fifth-round tight end Luke Willson...

NEW YORK (AP) — For a split second, Lucas Duda's sharp grounder looked as if it was going to lift the Mets out of their doldrums.
An unfortunate bounce later, New York was headed toward another loss in a season in which they are rapidly mounting.
Duda's grounder down the first-base line with runners on second and third hit the bag and caromed straight up in the air. That allowed the Pittsburgh Pirates to get the third out of the eighth inning of a 3-...
