Fentanyl seized by police in New Lexington

NEW LEXINGTON, Ohio – The New Lexington Police Department announced in a press release the seizure of fentanyl, cash, and evidence of long-term drug trafficking.
After a month-long undercover operation, the department seized more than 9 grams of fentanyl, evidence of long-term involvement in drug trafficking in New Lexington, and cash believed to be profits from drug trafficking. One suspect was taken into custody, but their identity is being withheld until criminal charges are filed.
“Every gram of fentanyl removed from our community represents lives that may be saved. This dangerous drug continues to devastate families, strain emergency services, and create lasting impacts throughout our village. Our officers remain committed to aggressively pursuing those who profit from addiction and endanger the safety of our citizens,” Chief Douglas Gill said in the press release.
The New Lexington Police Department noted that the Fairfield County Major Crimes Unit allowed them to use specialized equipment that contributed to the operation, but did not specify what equipment.
The department asks that anyone in the New Lexington community who suspects narcotics activity in the area call the Drug Enforcement Tip Line at 740-342-4111, option 4. Calls can be made anonymously.
